Introducing Fort Collins Chiropractor Dr. Melissa Logue

I became a chiropractic patient when I was 6 years old. My mother saw a chiropractor regularly and had me along with her on one of her appointments. I was suffering from yet another ear infection and the doctor offered to adjust me. After that first treatment my chronic ear infections, sinus congestion and eczema truly started to heal.
Dr. Judy Peterson is the doctor who took care of my family when I was a teenager. She is the doctor that inspired me to be a chiropractor. She also taught me the importance of diet and nutrition. She told me when I started school to be sure and learn three things. First, she told me to learn my labs. All of my patients would have medical doctors and that if I did not learn to communicate well with them I would not be effective in coordinating their care if need be. Second she told me to learn how to muscle test. This would be the way I would determine what my patients needed and when. And lastly she encouraged me to learn nutrition because food was indeed mans best medicine. Proper diet and nutrition guarantee that the body will have the best tools needed to heal.
I did my pre-med undergraduate studies at Colorado State University in the Exercise and Sports Science Department. I moved to Southern California in 1993 and began Chiropractic school at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in Whittier, California in 1994. I really had no idea what to expect when I started my chiropractic education. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my education was on the same level and intensity of a medical doctor. I would be licensed to diagnose, order any desired lab work and make educated referrals. I loved my educational experience and continue to expand my knowledge every year through multidisciplinary continuing education courses. I graduated Cum Laude in December of 1997 and was already in private practice in Huntington Beach. I practiced in California until May of 2001 when I decided it was time to come home.
My mission is to inspire every person that I touch with hope, determination and a clear path to achieve their greatest health potential. I do this by care and correction of the human frame; specific and sequenced repair of organs, tissues, and glands with whole food nutrition, herbal complexes and homeopathy; acupuncture; and education in diet and lifestyle. I am always in training to bring you the best. I believe that the patient and I are undergoing and journey/transition together. I believe that I cannot lead where I have not been or will not go. I believe that health and healing is our natural state of being.
I married James Jason Henderson on September 6th, 2003. We live in Fort Collins now but spent the first five years of our relationship living in Cheyenne, Wyoming. On August 12, 2006 we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Valory Skye Henderson into our lives. We share a love of natural and healthy living and spend a lot of our time planning and preparing nutrient dense meals. The rest of our time is spent enjoying the miracle of our daughter. In our past life we enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, and fishing. When I have the time and energy I also enjoy crocheting, dancing, listening to live music and spending time with family and friends.
During the course of care, most of my patients ask me “who treats you?” I am blessed to practice with two other extremely gifted and dedicated holistic health practitioners. “Dr. Jean and Dr. Barbara” I tell them. “I have to be healthier than you!” I take my health very seriously. Growing up with undiagnosed food allergies and very poor digestive function has made it more challenging for me to maintain excellent health. I enjoy a nutrient dense diet of simple foods – fresh, raw fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds and oils. Organic meat, eggs and poultry, and wild caught seafood are the majority of my diet. I receive chiropractic care and/or therapeutic bodywork weekly and exercise moderately 2-3 times a week. I do not watch TV or read the news. I can honestly say that I am healthier now, in my late 30’s, than I was as a child and teenager.
After you have spent a little time with me you will see that my true passion is my practice. I have taken over a thousand hours of continuing education and have plans to further my education still.
I love waking up every morning knowing that I am living my dream. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with you. Thank you for taking this time to learn a little about me. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we may be of service to you. Give our Fort Collins office a call or email and let’s arrange a time to explore your options.
